Swing and Dance mentioned in the New York Times
We got a nice little mention of us in the New York Times for December 22nd, 2011. If anyone is interested, we're available for private lessons, and we're teaching at Dance Manhattan in January.

Elaine and Adam
Partners since August 2010, Elaine and Adam have been killing it in New York City. Right after starting their partnership they started performing with groups such as the Lindy Hop All-Stars and winning contests such as Yehoodi.com's Y12A Strictly Lindy contest. They are currently teaching group and private lessons in the NYC area.
About Adam
Adam Lee is the founder of Swing Beijing and the Beijing Big Band, and has been swingin' since he was 7 years old starting with music (saxophone and clarinet), and picking up swing dance in 1997. He taught in his home state of California for 3 years before moving to China. He taught in Beijing continuously for 7 years, and conducted workshops in places such as Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Moscow, Ireland, Portugal, Vietnam, Ukraine, London, Brazil, Argentina, Japan, and back again in his home region in the SF Bay Area. He describes himself as a 'Musician who also can dance' and thinks of the Lindy Hop as a "natural dance" that should be done as an extension of natural movement and musical interpretation. He just finished up a world tour in places with burgeoning swing scenes and helping out where he could.
Adam is presently doing a Masters in Music Education at NYU. He has been developing a special series of classes for dancers, focusing on helping them to understand more clearly what is going on in the music that they are dancing to, and how they can put that knowledge to good use in their dancing.

About Elaine
Elaine Silver has had swing dance fever since early 2006. She and her high school friends started a swing dance club during lunchtimes, watching videos and checking out books from the local library to fuel their curiosity. All four years at Columbia University, she was an active member and organizer of CU Swing, a part of their performance troupe for four years, and choreographed for the troupe for a year and a half. Elaine is also a very well known member of the NYC swing dance community, helping to promote and organize events and bands to other dancers and non-dancers alike. Her smile and grace on the dance floor brings out the best in her partner through musical expression. Elaine has won various local Strictly Swing and Jack and Jill competitions. Every Sunday night since September 2009, she can be found teaching beginners at Swing 46, abetting their love of dance. To her students, Elaine stresses connection to your partner, a solid base in fundamentals, and creating your dancing as an extension of the music.
